Halloween Horrors

A Meeting Place For Everyone That Loves Horror Movies And Halloween Topics

Tonight's movie is titled "Thirty Days of Night". Some of the movies that I've found have some nudity or horror movie style violence in them. I will try to warn you ahead of time if there is something that might be disturbing for some but use your own good judgement. Also movies from YouTube tend to be a little darker in the dark scenes so sometime you may want to turn up the brightness on you computer screen. My posting this movie does not change any of the other rules and guidelines that are in place on Halloween Horrors. For example this is still a no nude picture site. You may post videos in a blog but please make sure the movies are not too objectionable (if you have questions ask before you post - and please let me know when you plan to do it).... Enjoy tonights movie :)

Tonight's movie is titled "Thirty Days of Night" (Rated R 2007 Directed by David Slade) Plotline: This is the story of an isolated Alaskan town called Barrow, Alaska, that is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. As the last rays of light fade, the town is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires bent on an uninterrupted orgy of destruction. Only the small town's husband-and-wife Sheriff team stand between the last survivors and certain destruction.

I agree - especially the little girl they encountered inside the store, killing her victim then saying "I'm done playing with this one." Creepy. The vampires in this story were different, different from the Bram Stoker vampire. I like them both.

Even the children looked dangerous. I liked the way they reworked the whole vampire image. I still like some of the more traditional stuff too, I think there's room for both. But I know some people who wouldn't go to watch a movie that was this far removed from the Bram Stoker story.

This was really good, I loved it! The "Stranger" was an odd character - asking for raw meat at the diner, later taunting those at the sheriff's office about how everyone is already dead, repeating that "they're coming" and that "they" will take him for everything he's done (well, the vampires did take him later on, just not in a way he expected). The vampires themselves were eerie - their black eyes, bloody faces, rows of sharp teeth and that language they talked in! After all the deaths - the old man at the communications center, the plant worker who had his throat chewed, the sheriff's grandmother and all the other (bloody) deaths, after everything the group of survivors had gone through - hiding for so long in the attic, fighting and killing the vampire girl in the store, creating the diversions so they could make it to the power station, etc...I certainly wasn't expecting it to end the way it did. The sheriff injecting himself with the tainted blood of his deputy Billy, becoming a vampire himself to fight the remaing vampire creatures and saving the rest of the group. The final fight between the sheriff and the lead vampire was intense but how he (the sheriff) killed him was great - punching a hole through his head. The sheriff and his wife reconciled in a way in the end, but the sun killed him when it returned. Thanks for posting this, it was really good. I enjoyed it.
