Halloween Horrors

A Meeting Place For Everyone That Loves Horror Movies And Halloween Topics

Tonight's movie is titled "Silent Night, Bloody Night". Some of the movies that I've found have some mild nudity or horror movie style violence in them. I will try to warn you ahead of time if there is something that might be disturbing for some but use your own good judgement. Also movies from YouTube tend to be a little darker in the dark scenes so sometime you may want to turn up the brightness on you computer screen. My posting this movie does not change any of the other rules and guidelines that are in place on Halloween Horrors. For example this is still a no nude picture site. You may post videos in a blog but please make sure the movies are not too objectionable (if you have questions ask before you post - and please let me know when you plan to do it).... Enjoy tonights movie :)

Tonights movie is titled "Silent Night, Bloody Night"(1974 Rated R - USA) Directed by Theodore Gershuny Plotline: Wilford Butler returns home on Christmas Eve and his house had been turned into a mental institution for the criminally insane. But the day of his return, he is set on fire and dies. The towns people believe his death was an accident, and the institution-house is later closed down. Wilford leaves the house to his grandson Jeffrey. A few years later, Jeffrey finally decides to sell this grandfather's house, but the towns people including the Mayor have mixed feelings on keeping people away from the house, especially when a serial killer escapes from another institution and finds refuge there. The killer makes frightening phone calls and kills anyone coming near the house. But what does the killer have in common with what happened to Wilford Butler years before?

That's true. With this movie and with "Black Christmas" the ending isn't too happy for most...

Winter films like Wind Chill reflect the cold and dark weather and the not so cheery feelings of Winter. And about everyone knows someone who dies around the end of the year. Most holiday horror doesn't end in a happy sort of way.

What happened to Tess was sad...I liked her. Too bad she couldn't have reached the sheriff!

I liked the beginning - the house is isolated and creepy. The "death" of "Mr. Butler" didn't look like an accident to me. The patient who escaped from the asylum must have some ties to the Butler house, he went from the asylum to there. Everyone at the meeting in town seemed a bit wary and suspicious why Jeffrey Butler wants to sell the house now, after the house being empty for so many years. The lawyer and his girlfriend should have stayed at the motel in town instead of going back to the house, their deaths were bloody and gory. It's strange that Jeffrey Butler shows up right after the murders and takes the lawyer's car. To bad that Tess the operator couldn't have reached the sheriff before he headed out to the house - now he's dead, too, and poor Tess...that was sad, I liked her. Then the newspaper man, hit by the car and found with no hands. I liked the scenes showing the past history of the house, they explain the reasons why events in the present are happening the way they are. I liked the ending, I certainly wasn't expecting that - and who the killer actually was. Great movie :)

I'm sorry that I missed adding the rest of this movie to the blog. It's all here now. It's the busy season that has me distracted.
