Tonight's movie is titled "Blood on Satan's Claw". Some of the movies that I've found have some nudity or horror movie style violence in them. I will try to warn you ahead of time if there is something that might be disturbing for some but use your own good judgement. Also movies from YouTube tend to be a little darker in the dark scenes so sometime you may want to turn up the brightness on you computer screen. My posting this movie does not change any of the other rules and guidelines that are in place on Halloween Horrors. For example this is still a no nude picture site. You may post videos in a blog but please make sure the movies are not too objectionable (if you have questions ask before you post - and please let me know when you plan to do it).... Enjoy tonights movie :)
Tonight's film is titled "Blood on Satan's Claw" (1971 Rated R Director Piers Haggard)
Plot: Set in 17th century England Ralph Gower (Barry Andrews) uncovering a deformed skull with one eye and strange fur upon it while plowing a field. The local judge (Patrick Wymark) is asked to look at it, but the skull has vanished and the judge disregards Ralph's supernatural fears. However, later many people in the village become affected by this supernatural power, including a young woman who sprouts a claw and children who behave oddly after finding a strange claw and start to grow fur on their bodies. The farmer who first found the skull rides to a neighboring town to find the local judge and bring him back to try and eradicate the evil. The judge does come back after having done some research in a book about witchcraft. After getting some information about a future cult gathering of the evil children in the village, the judge takes some men to the spot and they kill the satanic beast, whose remains had been dug up by the farmer at the start of the film, and who is responsible for the evil infecting the populace
It wasn't too bad. I think it sort of falls in the category of a cult classic film, no jest on the fact that there is an actual cult in the film. It was interesting how the evil spread with patches of fur on peoples skin.
This was actually a really good movie - and the music that played along with it only added to the dark and creepy atmosphere! As the farmer, Ralph, said later in the movie...if only he hadn't been plowing that field! The furry head (with one eye) that he uncovered was strange and even though the judge didn't believe at first, he later did. After that, everyone who came in contact with the strange claw became "infected"(the fiancee of the older woman, the young people in the village, etc...). As the doctor (who thought the problems were caused by witchcraft) said, it was like the "plague". Or, as the judge's visitor stated, "there is something strange afoot." That couldn't have been more accurate! Angel became the 'leader' of the group and was behind the deaths (Mark - who was found by his mother in the woodshed, poor Cathy - who was raped and stabbed). Also, accusing the reverand of sexual acts against her and for murdering Mark. Thankfully, he was let go after Cathy's death (when he was in custody). If it wasn't for Margaret, one of Angel's followers, who was rescued after being accused of witchcraft and telling the judge and the mob of villagers where the strange rituals were held, Angel and the others who were "infected" would not have been found. I liked the ending - how Angel was impaled by the judge's pitchfork and how the judge stabbed the hairy satan creature, throwing him on the fire. Thanks for posting this :)
